What Lens Shape Is Best For Your Face

Posted by Danielwalters.com on 26th Mar 2017

There are so many different styles of eyeglasses on the market today which makes it difficult to choose just one pair. However, there are certain styles and shapes that will look the best on your face and certain that will not be flattering and an important part of picking a new pair is knowing the right one for you. We have compiled our list of face shapes and the best frames so that you can get a head start on picking your new glasses

Round

A round face is characterized by the round chin, full cheeks, and wide forehead. Most people look for a style of glasses that is more tall than wide which gives the illusion of a slimmer face so that means that you should avoid round glasses or small frames. Instead, you should opt for a square frame that adds some contrast to the roundness of the face.

Square

A square face shape is proportionate in length and width and has a strong jawline. This face shape is flattered most by oval or round lenses and bold, brightly colored frames. This will provide contrast against the sharp angles of your face. That is why you should also avoid any square or rectangular frames because they add more angles to your already bold features. Light colored frames may also be overshadowed my your bold features.

Oval

This face shape is the most versatile out of all of them and it is characterized by a slightly curved jawline which is a little narrower than the forehead. With this face shape you will be able to get away with any shape or color of eyeglasses and the only one you should avoid is over-sized eyeglasses which will overpower your face.

Diamond

This face shape has wide cheekbones, a narrow forehead, and an angular jawline. Rimless frames are excellent at evening out the face by not drawing too much attention to the wider part of your face. Glasses with thick frames on the top and thin frames around the bottom will also level out the face. You may want to avoid thin or narrow frames which will draw attention to the thickest part of your face.

Heart

This face shape is characterized by the broad forehead and narrow chin with the angled cheekbones. The best frame shapes for this face are round or oval and thin, light-colored frames will balance out the narrow chin. You will want to avoid dark, thick frames and anything too top heavy.
