3 MUST Coatings for Prescription Lenses

Posted by Danielwalters.com on 9th Jul 2017

Coatings can make your prescription lenses last longer and perform better. It adds an additional layer of protection and new features to your lenses that improves the overall quality of your glasses.

There are many different types of coatings to choose from depending on your needs. You can apply anti-reflective, scratch-resistant, or anti-fog coating. You can also go for mirror coatings and transition coatings against UV rays.

You may have to pay a little more for these coatings to be applied but they certainly are worth it! Here at Daniel Walters, we give you the option to add any coating of your choosing. But let’s get you familiarized with them, first.

Anti-Reflective

AR or Anti-reflective lens coating does exactly what its name says. It functions to reflect excess light which is ideal during nighttime driving. It is also best for people who spend too much time in front of the computer or tablet. Lenses with AR coating usually mirror a purplish-greenish tint as an effect of multiple layering.

Scratch Resistant

Lenses are very prone to scratches especially if you’re the type of person who doesn’t habitually use his glasses case and cleaning cloth. While many lenses are already made scratch resistant, this does not mean they are completely scratch-proof. Knowing this, it would not hurt to add another layer of protection to your lenses. It will make your glasses look like new even after many months of use.

Transition

Transition coating protects your eyes against UV light and responds to it by adjusting your lenses from being transparent clear to a tinted darker shade the more it gets exposed to the sun. By doing this, it reduces eye strain and eye fatigue while at the same time allowing you to easily switch from simple eyeglasses to fashionable sunglasses. This new technology has been proven very practical to many.

TRANSITIONS 7 (LENS ADD-ON)

Coatings are a very useful feature to apply to your lenses. Not only does it protect your eyes from UV rays and help your lenses endure longer. It is also a thing for fashion!

Here at Daniel Walters, we provide services which will allow you to add any kind of coating you want for a much cheaper price (while keeping the best quality in the market) compared to any other optical stores.
